Long story short, I really like this girl, to the point where this is all I think about 90% of the day.. or at least today, today has been brutal compared to the rest.
My rational brain is in a power struggle.
A) I don't really have the time to dedicate to a girlfriend.
B) While the possibility of this materializing is real and present, the opportunity cost is enormous.
C) I'm doing completely irrational and crazy things. Example: We share a lot of common interests, and one of them is a tv show.. She's on season 5.. I've been watching episode after episode to catch up (there's a 109 episodes that have to be watched to get to season 5...) I mean, I don't ever watch tv, and all of a sudden I'm spending an obscene amount of time sitting in front of that stupid box doing nothing... Do I really need to be watching anything at this point in my life? No, I need to be studying, working, building myself physically, financially, etc.
But I really really want to.. or at least my mind thinks it does.
My problem is that when I set my mind on something I'm hyper focused almost to the point of ruin. Be it gambling (became seriously and heavily addicted... lost my entire childhood savings at the time.. which were substantial), music, to politics, video games... anything really.
So at my age, what were you doing relationship-wise? Me personally, as hard as it is, I think I need to forget about this and focus on what will build my future to get me where I want to go.
We can stay friends.. we're already good friends at that. I just don't think another girlfriend is what I need right now, even though that's what I want and is more or less all I think about all day long regardless of what I'm doing at the time.
Oh, and I've also never quite felt this way over any one person if that makes any difference. I know there are millions (hell, billions) of girls out there, so maybe some delayed gratification is what I need to be doing here.
Thoughts? Thanks
