I HAVE DECIDED WHAT I WILL DO WITH THE $25K:
Chose not to invest as I'll need the money within the next 3-5 years and the gains will be so small that worrying about it isn't worth it. The peace of mind of having some FU money is worth it alone.
Also with all of this talk of a recession, it might be good to just keep cash for now...
Long story short I am about to inherit $25k from a family member who has passed away. I know it's not that much but at 22 years old this could be an enormous opportunity to get a head start on life, and the Fastlane...
Of course, the money is not mine until it's in my bank account but I would like to get a game plan ready for when it is.
Before I do anything big with the money there are a few things I have to do first:
Here are the 3 options that I am considering:
- Pay off both debts
- Use my own money to buy the ring and engage the F@CK out of my GF
- Buy a new laptop + office chairs
- Put the remainder into a high yield savings account (this will be my emergency fund and business fund)

Of course, the money is not mine until it's in my bank account but I would like to get a game plan ready for when it is.
Before I do anything big with the money there are a few things I have to do first:
- Pay off my CC debt (~$3,000)
- Pay off my GF's debt (~$2,500)
- Buy an engagement ring (~200 + $400 already saved)
- 3-month emergency fund ($3,500)
Here are the 3 options that I am considering:
- Save the money in a high yield savings account to use as a down payment on a rental property within the next 5-10 years (low risk/low reward)
- Invest the money in a dividend growth portfolio (coming recession? = moderate risk/better reward)
- Buy an online business to eventually Fastlane (highest risk/very high reward. Could fund the rest of my life or lose it all.)
