Wanted to give another update concerning the car situation
I am considering financing a truck. As much as I cringe at the thought. I've already been approved for a loan by my bank. (USAA is a great bank. I love them so much. Will never use a different bank)
I need to get around for my business to keep going and the employee I've been relying on left to another job for more hours. All my money is tied up in the business and red tape. I saved some of that to fix my car. But my assessment of the problem was off. Looked like a starter issue but was a seized engine. It'll cost more than the car is worth to fix it.
So now I find myself in a tough situation. I have no jobs coming in because I haven't been able to get around the city. I do not rely on a internet presence for my lead generation at the moment. Most of my money is tied up in the business and no money is coming in. I have multiple business expenses coming very soon. Do not have too many options. I need to figure out something quick or I will miss payments.
To get my loan I had to verify my income. Really big issue with that. My business is very new so I have been taking only cash and it isn't consistent. So to verify my income I had to go get a job today (sigh) and get a letter of employment. I figured I'd make the best of it. I got a job for a competitor. I went in for a interview. The GM really liked me. That and based on my previous working experience I actually got a pay raise and a promotion compared to the other competitor I worked for. Which is pretty cool I guess. I asked the GM what it would be worth to him if I bring him leads. He asked how I get my leads (lol as if bro) I said I wont get into detail with it. All I will say is I do not use the internet to do it. I use personal interaction. He said we would work out a commission. So I THINK I will send him the HUGE ($10k-$50k) leads that I do not have the resources to handle and collect a percentage then do the smaller ones myself. I've learned their whole pricing structure and how they do things. They walked me around for a tour and I made mental notes of everything they are doing. They have some serious internal issues. They are having a lead generation problem and are understaffed. I'm pretty sure I can get a decent percentage if I throw big leads his way. I really like the GM so I am going to do my best to not compete with him at all and stay out of his way. If possible I would like to work with him as much as possible. I told him I used to run the same business in the past. But he does not know I currently do. I figured if I said that it would cause some issues. Even just doing a interview today I learned a good bit about the industry. All in all not too bad. I see some opportunity.
Here is the bad part. Because they are understaffed the employees are being worked hard. I was asking around and they said Sunday is the only day they have been getting off. They said the work days have been around 12 - 15 hours a day. Some guys have just walked off the job. One guy told me he was at 130 hours for two weeks. The GM put me in a management/leadership position. Pretty much supervising, talking with customers and working with employees on site. I know for a fact they are going to need and want me out there. My letter of employment says I am working 40+ hours weekly. This is going to cause a serious issue with my business operations.
So here is my plan. Remember the strategic partner I mentioned before? The reason I value him so much is because he is able to generate leads at a higher volume than I can. I am also good at finding leads myself. I am thinking I can actually make more selling huge a$$ leads to the GM than I can doing the small jobs I am now. I wouldn't have to worry about the logistics of it. The insurance. The employees. The regulations. If I executed correctly I could make enough to pay the loan off within the year and make enough to buy all the future equipment I'll need with cash. Then expand my original business while selling leads for the highest bidder.
My goal now is $10k a week and to pay off the slave debt before the year ends. The first time I make $10k in a week I am going to post pictures of it all because LORD KNOWS I am gonna get some hate.
Yesterday it felt like the universe was conspiring against me. I went on a long walk and smoked like 8 cigarettes. Today it feels like its dropping opportunity in my lap. Tomorrow my house will probably burn down. I have no F*cking clue. I just go with it all.
