Starting to create my business and want to update here on my progress

Decided to create this post to try progress on creating my business and holding myself accountable. I find myself easily distracted whether its thinking about the past or the future and I'm struggling to keep myself in check in the middle of them.


To start off with, I'm trying to teach myself on building a website, I bought a business subscription off from Wordpress.com but after spending some hours on it yesterday trying to tackle it I've realized I'm seriously beyond out of my knowledge on creating this. I'm thinking of having to refund it only because based on a a couple of youtube videos I watched it on now it makes more sense to get the service off a hosting platform and go from there. Atleast that way I can actually follow the tutorials and adapt it to my business idea. Going to spend some time learning around it aswell and not go blindly in.
Also any Wordpress pro's here with advice is really appreciated

Starting from wordpress.com will be tough. What you should do instead is first purchase your domain and hosting. I'm personally using it and all my clients use siteground.com

Pick a domain name, and add hosting to it, once done, ask support to help you install WordPress (they have amazing support). I remember the first time I saw the dashboard it seemed overwhelming but you're mainly just creating pages, which is the next challenge.

You need a theme/template and/or a website builder of some sort. WordPress default themes/templates are extremely basic. I like Divi Builder the best, Elementor is also popular (I think their templates don't look as good). Once you have that installed, you can deploy ready-made websites and simply customize them. Brizy Builder might even have a free version, and that is likely the easiest to use although it's not as fancy as Divi and Elementor.

Depending on your business model, if you have products to sell, Shopify might work. It's far easier and even has a free trial. However, I wouldn't touch it without a premium theme, as they're very limited.

EDIT: Pick WordPress or Shopify. Webflow is amazing but complex. Every other platform promises they have amazing templates and ease of use, but they're all crap compared to WordPress and Shopify. ClickFunnels 2.0 is pretty cool if you want/need that classic funnel look.

yeah I've come to learn wordpress.com is really not ideal. Luckily has a 4-day money back guarantee so going to do that use a hosting website. Business model wise it wont be a product I'm selling. But I found good plugins from other peoples advice that I can use to make this work, just need to figure it all out
