This is just a quick shout out and Thank You to @MJ DeMarco.
In the day to day grind, it is not often enough that we take the time to slow down and be thankful for our blessings.
I have started several businesses, each of which demanded that I work my a$$ off. Some were successful, some were colossal failures.
All had a common theme. I worked like a madman to breathe life into them, and that only stopped the day I closed or sold them.
Until I read your book.
The concept of separating your time from your income was foreign to me, and seemed magical. The paradigm shift opened up doors that I didn't know existed before I read The Millionaire Fastlane . Marrying that concept with your commandment of SCALE meant that, once unlocked, I would be FREE.
Fast forward maybe 5 (?) years?
My wife was smiling at me yesterday. See, I decided to jump on a plane from Florida to Minnesota this week to tend to some business I had been putting off. So, a few days ago, I booked a flight. I have been bitching about anticipating the cold weather ever since. Until...
Until she pointed out to me that the average worker (which is MOST people) can't just jump on a plane on a whim, spend a week living at a Casino in Minnesota, and with the complete freedom to do what ever I need to do. What I want to do. What I can do because I am free.
It took me a bit over a year from when I first read the book to build my escape hatch, let it grow to the point where the income was sustainable, and cut the cord to the rest of my hard work time swap income streams.
Now, I am free. I could never go back to being a worker.
And I owe a debt of gratitude that I will never be able to repay to you for the concept of that freedom. See, you could have taken your millions, sat on a beach, and not chronicled it for others. You could have done what most douche bags do when they strike it rich... which is nothing. You could have NOT created this forum, and even today you could cash it out instead of spending time here daily for the peanuts it throws off.
But you didn't.
And because you didn't, I am FREE. I am free to travel. Free to watch E play in the ocean while workers work. Free to live. Free to follow what ever whims or dreams I come up with. (MJ, do me a favor and reread this paragraph slowly, because you would understand what many of the words within mean to me. Don't read over this paragraph quickly. It has eternal value for me.)
How do you repay that? You can't. It doesn't have a price tag. It doesn't have a monetary equivalency. When this place causes me to lose the few remaining hairs that I have on my head, I will look back on this thread. I will look back on this moment that I stopped to build a "thank you" marker to remember just exactly why I am here.
So thank you. I got from you a gift of freedom through execution of separating my time from my income, and I take for granted every single day that gift.
I appreciate you more than I state, and more than I will ever be able to repay.
And I am just one of thousands that your life work has affected in the same way.
