Hello community, I'm new to the fastlane approach as described in the book, but not to the ideas of getting wealthy. I think this book was the final thing that was needed for permanent changes to start occurring in my life. I was treating previous changes as events and not process.
A little about me, I come from an immigrant family from Eastern Europe. I speak 3 languages fluently and 2 other on a moderate level. I love to know how things work, I repair cars and computers and their components when I can. While I am smart, I wasn't given an education. My first problem, Education was what was keeping me back. Let me explain. I was locked to a mindset that I need it. I knew I can't get wealthy with just an eduction. Rich maybe, but not wealthy. I dropped out 2 classes short of an AS degree to joint a mediocre job in 2012 that I am still at (insurance, 401k, the average "securities" bs). Right now I am debating whether to invest 2.5-3 more years for a BS or start over with a fresh AS. I will most likely avoid a degree and not go back to school as it will be useless to me (I was studying CS and wanted to switch to ME for a while). I was thinking AS in finances/entrepreneurship only to get the basics of economy, accounting, etc down. I am still qualified for 2 more years of govt. funded education.
My second problem was the thought I was stuck in California (due to forum rules, I will not say why I despised life there, let's say it's political). And why stuck? Because of the poisonous thought I can't move or I'll drop my precious education. Since my wife and I moved last May to South Carolina our lives have been calmer and happier. We could afford to live alone and even get a second car (not brand new, of course) as we were carpooling with 1 to jobs and school before. Not only the cross-country car road trip was amazing, but my eyes opened about the real America.
I had some not so successful ventures in SEO and web marketing back in 2011-2012. I even quit my fast food job then to focus fully on it. Before that I was unemployed for nearly 3 years. We stuck through this.
The fastlane opened some insights as to what may be a good business and what just another job. I will be careful and more planning in starting new ventures and be on my way to millionaire. Looks like this community is a great place to seek support as well. I am ready to succeed and I commit to a process not an event. My mindset has already change and will continue to change to help me on my task.
