Bingo! I just got you to click through. That's right, you just got manipulated to click on the title. But don't worry, that's the point. Are you pissed off yet?
What if I told you that I don't plan to piss you off at all. ... would that piss you off?
Either way, I win. Goal accomplished.
There's nothing wrong with using triggers to make people respond. If you clicked on that title (which you did since you're here) then you fell for what I call the "Curiousity Trigger." Once you read the title and let the seed enter your mind you had no choice but to click through. I forced you to plant a "Curiousity Seed" in your mind that eventually led you to take action. Once you allowed the seed to be planted; you had no choice.
But why? What's the point?
Money! Learn this lesson in your business and you will increase your number of sales. But, wait; there's more to it than just click throughs.
Which by the way... applies to ANY medium. Internet, Commericals, Ads, Mailings, Newsletters, Etc.
Should we have some fun with this?
Do me a favor... pull up your email box and scroll through all the emails you've recieved including spam. Look at all the emails you opened. Did you get tricked into opening a few that were just spam? Why? What trigger did they use to force you to click through? Spammers are masters at manipulating people to click; but MOST fail at the second part which is equally important (we'll get to that in a second).
Subject lines that have tiggered me to click:
Re: Your Email

Was this you?
Did you see this?

Finally, I figured it out...
Sorry, I failed you.
Do you notice a trend in the subject lines you click on? Do they trigger your curiosity to the point that you are forced to click? Did some of them piss you off? We're you immediately annoyed after clicking on the email? ... for fun feel free to share a few by replying to the post.
We're lucky spammers are mostly idiots. If they mastered this next thing; we would all be pulling out our credit cards and buying all sorts of stuff.
For spammers, its a simple numbers game. Send out as many emails as you can; trick people to click through and eventually someone will buy. But for the rest of us, that won't work.
What's missing?
This =====> Law of expectations!
If you are able to get people to click through but fail to meet the law of expectations; you failed. Getting people to click through is only part of the equation. You HAVE to deliver on your promise. Master that; and you'll master your sales.
What can you do to deliver on your promise? Bait in switch isn't a game that works in business unless your offer is such a no brainer that people have no choice but to buy. But that's the exception and almost never the rule.
The point is to NOT piss people off. Sure, its ok to get them to click through; but deliver on their expectations. If you do this you will sell more product/ services. Balance your "Triggers" with your "Call to Action" and you will have tons of success, that I can promise.
