One more tidbit to drop here. Recall that Aurthur Conan Doyle believed that the Cottingley Fairies were real fairies. He believed it because he wanted to believe. Perhaps also because he did not want to believe it was a hoax. It's worth examining our emotions when we choose what to believe, and when to withhold or delay a belief decision. Do I believe this because it is related to something I want to believe in? If so, my belief may be misguided, and it's easier for someone to make me into a mark.
