Hi MJ and other fastlaners,
I'm a 24 year old working in private accounting. I will be quitting my job on the 19th due to burnout and general lack of satisfaction with the career choice I made. Some personal life events really made me look myself in the mirror and realize that I could be doing 100x more with my life than I currently am. Rather than pivot to a different slowlane, I am using this as an opportunity to join the fastlane. I have been on a rigorous self-improvement program for a few months now, and have gotten to a point where I can genuinely say I have cut out all of my bad habits. I am willing to do nothing but work, sleep, exercise, eat, and read for the next 5 years to make my dream a reality. Additionally, I'll be starting a master's program next month, where I will learn about business analytics, programming, and AI (I recognize this would normally be advised against, but this program is of no financial cost to me, only time cost, and there is a passage in "The Milionaire Fastlane" where MJ describes someone in my exact situation and states he is in favor of it). I am unsure that accounting is a high value skill when it comes to entrepreneurship, so I am hoping this program will provide high value skills in that regard. The only other skill I possess which I am thinking of leveraging is environmental compliance and carbon accounting, which is a fast growing industry. My current thinking is that I will use my coding expertise to build a website selling compliance services, or one that facilitates the exchange of carbon credits. However, I still have a lot of research to do to determine the viability of this idea. If anyone is interested in hearing more about my story or has any tips/ideas for me, I am all ears.
