I talked to him at length about his plans, maybe, 1 year ago. So before this allegedly started.
He said he was on the fence about selling his pharmacy. I'm fairly certain it was doing well from what he told me (7 figs/year) but I could be wrong, some of it could have been illegal.
I could tell he was bored with his life in Nebraska, and wanted to move, do something exciting. He was working on several other projects at the time.
My advice was to sell the damn pharmacy and do what you want to do. Take the money and build a business you enjoy. He definitely was not hurting for cash. I watched him spend $25k while he was with me like it was nothing (on something perfectly legal).
The saddest part is that I read through his texts as well. From what it seems like to me, the drug dealer friend of his was pressuring him, and he was trying to be done with it. He had a chance to escape. He could have just put it down and been done, but by that point it was too late.
I feel like he had a change of heart in the past few months, but it was already too late. That's just my opinion, I could be totally wrong.
The point is, Jesus Christ, don't get into illegal shit. The EV is so negative it's not even funny. If you HATE what you're doing to the point you're going to commit felonies, stop immediately and do something else. Move across the country or the world, uproot your family, do whatever it takes so you don't go crazy like Hyrum did.
