"Give people what they are already looking for"
That is my new motto.
I had an interesting conversation with one of my mastermind groups earlier tonight about the topic of getting leads who might be interested in his product.
He has a great product, knows how to deliver it, is an excellent salesman, and the product solves a need for a lot of people.
His problem - He doesn't know where to get leads for his products.
When I first created my NLP course, I decided to create the course first, and use Facebook advertisements to "convince" people in the entrepreneur market to take my NLP course.
The mock conversation that demonstrates how this worked out:
Me - "Learn NLP, it'll change your life!"
Them - "I need help finding a business idea"
Me - "But NLP is really powerful - It has helped some of the most successful entrepreneurs I met!"
Them - "No thanks, Digital Marketer is going to show me how to make funnels..."
That didn't work out as planned when I did the product first and then tried to find customers for it. Is there a way to make it work? Absolutely! But I find it being kind of an uphill battle.
Traffic first.
Then I remember a conversation I had about a year ago with @Andy Black - The benefits of Google Search... "Give people what they are already searching for".
Potential customer - Searching for a long tail keyword - "For the love of god, will somebody please sell me wireless headphones that don't drain the battery quickly. I have my money ready for you." <--not the exact search term, but sure demonstrates the point.
Let's say 5,000 people search for that per month.
You, as the entrepreneur - "hey, I have wireless headphones with a battery that holds a charge for years on end". I can have it sent to you in 3 days.
Is it really that easy? Give people what they are already looking for?
So my new way of doing business, after years of failing - Deliver people what they are already looking for, and you won't be swimming upstream.
Is it the only way? Absolutely not, but it's working a lot better for me so far compared to the way I used to do things.
