Hey guys,
First of all I would like to thank MJ for setting up this forum, this place looks really awesome with lots of generous and helpful people helping out others. So keep up the good work guys.
A quick background about myself.
I am 28 years old and from London, UK. We (I have 3 other partners) are mainly clothing manufacturers (we produce, t-shirts, jeans trousers, jackets, shirts, shorts, underwear's etc). We have clothing factories in Bangladesh and have over 8000 people working world wide. We have offices in UK, China, and Bangladesh, we are also planning to set up an office in USA and Luxembourg soon.
Right now, we have started to move away from manufacturing (currently we are manufacturing for brands like Tommy hilfiger, ecko, lee, wrangler, next etc) and started to focus on launching our own brands. .
In UK, we have already launched our brands, however we are selling our clothes in wholesale for now, very soon we will start to do retail for the brands as well.
Here's the problem that we are facing with our wholesale e-commerce website..
As I mentioned, in UK we have launched our brands, we have launched it about 3-4 years ago, right now we are selling pretty much 100% offline (we have 3 sales people and they are doing all the sales). Through this offline method we are achieving about $1-1.5 million sales per year. Which is not that great to be honest (as the running cost of the office along with the salaries are adding up to be quite a lot).
So we launched our website about a 2 years ago (we sell in bulk to other wholesalers or retailers or ebay sellers). Didn't do much marketing for the first year then on second year we have re-designed everything and moved to the Big commerce plat form.
Then I have hired some seo guys form Odesk, they were doing link buildings and other things to increase the ranking of the site, however since we are not getting any sales hence I stopped them after 2 months, because the roi was pretty much zero and I didn't see any point of carrying that on.
After that, we did get about 2-3 sales from the site (all together they were probably about $3000) and then nothing else for several months.. So last month we thought we should go for PPC experts. We then hired a PPC guy and he started to do google adwords campaign. However in 20 days we haven't had any sales and only 1-2 enquries, so we are going to end the contract with him after the 30 days period as well. Because after spending almost $2800 I got literally no sales and may be 1-2 enquiries which is pretty poor roi.
What kind of surprised me was, we are getting about 1000-1100 unique visitors a month, plus this Adwords campaign were bringing fair number of targeted visitors as well however no sales at all!!!
So as you guys can guess, I was pretty frustrated by the lack of results and wondering if i will need to make some adjustment for the B2B model or if website sales are actually possible for B2B businesses.
I should also mention, I don't have much expertise on online marketing, I have done business on ebay 6-7 years ago, however this is a new concept for me and as you can see have no results to show for the efforts.
Hopefully you guys can give me some ideas or strategies to implement and then that should get the ball rolling for us.
Thanks in Advance.
