Hello.

Been posting on here for the past few days, just haven't had a chance to introduce myself.

A 37 year old male living in the Boston area, married, with a 4 year old son.

I'm a good example of a slowlaner.

- I went to a good college
- I work in a cushy office job (8 to 6), make a good living (well into the six figures) I'm a partner at my firm, and my company is good to me.
- I max out my 401k
- We don't live excessively; both cars are paid off, we carry no credit card debt, and our mortgage is more than reasonable

However,

- We live paycheck to paycheck (we're single income as my wife stays home with my son)
- And big, although necessary expenses, are put off as they are hard to budget for
- I travel about 20% of the time; and that takes away from family time.

What I want out of life:

- To be remembered for something when I leave this planet
- To be able to add value to other people's lives outside my own family
- For my son to never have to worry about money
- To not have someone else determine what my time is worth (salary)

What I've done so far to try leaving the slowlane:

- Been working on a non-fiction ebook that I plan to publish later this year; the problem has been the lack of time. What I plan on doing is heading to the library every day during lunch and hammering out more of the book until it's complete.

What comes after that?

- Maybe another ebook? I don't know.
- I've tried a few business ventures that haven't gone anywhere, but I'm not discouraged or deterred.

Cheers!

Hi,

does the market need another "fantasy" book.

What makes your so special, what makes it so unique from all the millions of other fantasy books out there?

How about you find a real problem that needs solving - and solve that problem or teach others how to solve that problem, or create a device that helps others to solve that problem.

It's not a fantasy book? It's a non fiction book that addresses a topic with not a lot of competition.

The Slowlane success is admirable and deserves kudos, however comfort will be your worst enemy moving forward.

Thanks for the intro and welcome.

Yea I have no desire to maintain slowlane success. The fact that I don't want to go to work tells me all I need to know.

A little bit off-topic, but how can you live paycheck to paycheck with a six figure salary, what do you spend most of your money on?

It's a good question.

Some of the main things are my mortgage, son's school (almost $9000/yr), paying down loan for my equity stake ($5000/yr) in my firm. Maxing out my 401k is another $17000 per year.

Plus, you'd be surprised how far six figures DOESN'T go in Boston. Expensive place to live. 1200 sq ft house is $380k (mine)

Yea the single income is a big part of it too. When my wife stopped working, that was about 40% of our income.

Forgot to add. My slowlane lifestyle also involves literally slow bumper-to-bumper 40 min drives to work. Time that could be much better spent.
