Hi all!
My Background
I'll start my introduction with a little bit about my background. I guess you could say I am the typical Slowlaner and wantrepreneur. I graduated with a degree in Business 2,5 years ago from one of the top universities in Europe (we need a little bit longer in some countries here to finish our university education, i.e. longer high school, military service and also did a Master's degree
) and started working for one of the major Tech Companies afterwards (think Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc.) as an Account Manager in the Online Marketing area.
During university and also since day one at my job I always though about creating something on my own and becoming an entrepreneur. However I never had the self confidence and motivation to follow through with it and to go to market with any of my ideas.
The turning point
Even though I just got a pay raise and am now getting an overall solid 6-figure $ salary I always dreamed of being independent and doing my own thing. Especially now that I am turning 30 next year and am still that small cog in a corporation. I am getting seriously depressed, imagining the 40-year long corporate rat race ahead...
As a true wantrepreneur I read a ton of entrepreneurial and motivational books already. However none has hit me as much as The Millionaire Fastlane ! Even though recommended in many forums I never picked it up because of the trashy title (sorry MJ!
). However now that I read it - just wow! It is incredible how much non BS value the book provides and how motivational it is. Same for this Forum (been a lurker for a while): none of that wantrepreneur crap of a lot of other forums but practical advice and insights for and (from) real and serious businesses starters.
My roadmap
Even though I have not figured out what I gonna do exactly I am currently looking into local lead generation or SaaS opportunities.
Regarding the former one: my professional background is in PPC advertising and I know there is still a big opportunity with smaller local businesses, which don't have the online marketing know-how and capabilities.
For SaaS I believe there are many niche markets left, which aren't served by a specific solution as well as too small for major corporations and as such interesting as target groups.
If you can point me towards any advice, posts, guides, case studies or primers on starting either a local lead generation or SaaS business (as a non-techie) I would be incredibly happy and thank you a thousand times!
Also as I said before my background is in PPC, more specifically in SEM. So, if you have any questions in that area please feel free to shoot me a message and I'll try my best to help!
