Some headlines today read that this was the best September for stocks in 70 years. Another headline reads that dollar takes biggest monthly loss since 2008. Are these two related? Does the dollar value dropping mean that it takes more dollars to buy a share of domestic stock and, thus, the dollar value of the stock appears to rise? Is this a "fake" rise in the DJIA?

Really not trying to be a negative nanny, just trying to understand what may be happening.

I'd say both are to do with more USD being pumped into the system.

More USD sloshing around looking for a home, so some of it has gone into the stock market, pushing prices up.

However because there are more USD in circulation, the value of them versus other currencies has dropped.

My opinion....

It's all one big pot of soup! All of the ingredients are mixed in and have been mixed in for quite some time.

The big boys have already moved the markets yesterday to where they should be tomorrow. Many folks miss the move because they wait for the conditions to be right. At this point, the big boys start moving the markets in the opposite direction.

As a guppy swimming with whales, my view is that the market is never wrong.

imho, the 'soup' has all of the economic conditions already mixed in.

Yes, they have been reverse correlated for years. As the US dollar weakens, investors using other currencies are able to buy US equities at a discount.
