Hi:
Problem: We often have new people who join in once and then never again. We also have people in motion who join once, realize they don't get any value out of it, then never come back. I think these people are "tourists", trying to see what it's really about before committing to it.
This causes two issues. First: it's a waste of our call time. Second: we reveal sometimes sensitive details about our businesses in the call and in the private PM group, and even if there is no real risk, we don't always want to share them in the presence of strangers.
We also have people who haven't outlined their goals for the year, so they go around in circles not really making any progress.
Solution: A mandatory introductory call, done in batches as they're requested, with at least one existing member, to establish goals for which they will be held accountable. We can do this call once a week, once a month, or however often it's necessary. Once they've done the call, they will be added to our private PM group on the forum.
Why this is a solution: They have to commit time in advance to join the group, meaning they have a bit more skin in the game. By not going over the introductory info (who are you, what's your business, why are you here, bla bla bla) we don't waste on-call time.
How to implement: We will need to set up a call time. Sat at 1pm, an hour before the calls usually are, sounds fine to me. We will need at least one person to be on these calls. I'm willing to do that but I also volunteer @Subsonic for it. Once we've set an initial time for the calls, we will need to set a cadence based on how many people request to join. People can simply request to join on this thread.
Feedback is welcome.
