Hi All,
Is there a particular order that I need to file registrations, license and apply for federal employer tax id? The name is not yet registered for the business nor is it protected in any way yet. I also need to get a checking account established in the business, but I suppose I can't do that until I get the name registered. What would be the order I need to go in to make sure I handle this correctly? The business is to be in an LLC, and my understanding is that I must specify Business Name, LLC and want to ensure that is represented in all filings if possible.
What would be the order?
1) Register business name with the State as Business Name, LLC?
2) Submit Articles of Organization for LLC
3) Apply for Federal EIN with Business Name, LLC
4) Apply for Local/County licenses as Business Name, LLC?
At what point can I can apply for a checking account in the Business Name? I assume I will have to pay out of personal checking for all these steps until that is done. Would it be safe to say to open the checking account after Step 2 or make this the last step
5) Open checking account as Business Name, LLC
Thanks for anysight on how to proceed.
We are about 2 weeks out from submitting the paper work, would you recommend that I submit for a Name Reservation with the state in the meantime (costs $15 in the state of KY) until we are ready and prevent any chances of someone wanting to use it (which may be unlikely). Thoughts?
Thanks,
Steven Mac
