I couldn't even get to 3 minutes. I'll come back and watch it when my cringe-levels have dropped back.
The presenter did a great job of keeping a straight face and tone. He didn't have to do anything other than give her the rope to hang herself. Talk about rope-a-dope...
I saw this video recently, and I think Gary V explains College in the same way most people here see it (if you have to take out a big loan to go to college that is)
Go to 9 mins in:
I watched the whole clip and it just pissed me off. Similar nonsense that I've heard from a guy I've known since him & I were about 4 years old and grew up together. We graduated HS in 09 and he's in year 7 of college (parents paying for everything, he's maybe worked 1 job and that was in summer 09 after high school delivering pizza for about a month before leaving for school). He has yet to obtain a degree and has changed majors about 3-4 times, might as well since he isn't paying? His Grandpa passed away in 2013 and I know for a fact that a fair amount of the money his parents received from that are going towards his schooling. The funny thing about that is he was saying the estate tax should be raised because people receive billions of dollars and they can't possibly spend it , talk about biting the hand that feeds you! Lol.
That Gary V video is awesome! Especially 9:00-10:30 where he's talking about going to school for business and quit. Tell your mom to F off and forget about her self esteem of saying "...little Johnny goes to Dartmouth for business...", the unfortunate fact is that it reminds me of too many people in my family and I'm sure I'm not the only one who listens to people "brag" about their kid going to [insert name] school.
IMO, college is not needed at all except for the degrees like Gary V mentioned - doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc. You can literally learn any marketable skill on the internet right now. That's how I started my internet company earlier this year! I've enjoyed using computers for most of my life since I learned what the internet was at about 9 years old but the only class I took on computer stuff was Keyboarding in high school.
I'm sure there are much smarter people, but it is her fault for agreeing to do the interview. How can you agree to go on TV and debate a cause you feel very strongly about yet don't even really understand it. I think she got of easy.
She is the main problem with society today, getting behind a movement that they know nothing about because it's the cool/trendy thing to do. People like her are the reason cecil the lion thing got so out of control.
Agreed 100%. I'm from about 30 miles from where that dentist's office is. I remember seeing a comment on a local news station's facebook post related to that event (after that event I unfollowed all news outlets because I was tired of seeing it) a woman that posted a comment stating something along the lines of "he paid $50,000 to kill the lion, I'm sure we could find an illegal to pay $40 to get rid of the dentist".
Seeing all the "internet tough folks" when that story came out was rather interesting. People were posting the dentist's address (I forgot his name - guess how big of a deal it was to me? 😀 ) of his house here in MN and his house in Marco Island, FL. All I could think of was, you idiots are going to show up and try to do something and common sense would say he's likely armed heavily since he's a trophy hunter. I try to not even watch crap like this because it just sets me off!
Two minutes after watching this video, I saw why you posted this.
I laughed harder at this interview than I have any stand up comedian.
0:00 - 0:03: Woman says "encourage government to get bigger... that's one way to do it."
One way to do what? Further F-up America. If so, then yes.
Work for Uncle Sam to pay off a debt?
Uh, no thanks.
I'll pass on that deal.
0:36: She ironically (we see later why) describes her movement as seeking "more equitable and fair really models, as opposed to the really corporate model currently in place." In the 48 Laws of Power, Robert Greene points out that those who talk most of "fairness" and "equality actually want nothing of the sort. To treat each man equally and fairly entails leaving each man on his own, allowing him to enjoy his wins and suffer his losses all by his lonesome. If he falls, he does not drag down his fellow man down with him, nor does he a demand a helping hand to help him get up. Rather, he rises on his own, by his own bootstraps if necessary, and - fittingly so - as he rises, he brings up his fellow man with him. In capitalism, the system whose fruits this girl seeks to arbritrarily extract, exploit and enjoy, whilst she simultaneously - with that very action - seeks to destroy the seeds that produce said fruit. A class case of the mouth that (uknowingly) bites the hand that feeds it.
Side note: You know, I've always wondered about that phrase: biting the hand that feeds you. If you rely on someone else's hands to feed you, what on earth are you doing with your own hands? *sigh* My generation needs to stop doing forearm workouts in front of their computers and get to work.
2:15. This is when she gives the answer to the question: What if the 1% leave? Her answer is that the United States' capitalism will always produce one percenters. In the United States, the rate at which citizens renounce citizenship rises by large percentages every year. Forbes recently reported that Americans are renouncing their citizenship at record rates. So, Cavuto wasn't talking hypothetically. And, literally, if you remove enough cream of the crop, you have no cream left.
By 5:34, you get to see a kind of sad irony. She mentions that her family "already" receives a great deal of government assistance, which is another way of saying that the government robs Peter (the 1%) to pay Paul (her family), in part so that they can "scrape by" and "send her to college." Her performance in this interview tells us whether or not that money was well spent.
6:42. Cavuto points out to her that the one percent is smart and they are "scurrying all over the globe," no doubt using strategies that @GlobalWealth and others advocate. She regards this as a "problem." @SSimz Yes, it hurts to see the entitlement mindset branded deeply in the minds of a fellow millenial. These are the kids that grew up getting trophies even when they lost, even when they sucked. Legion of complaining. corpulent crybabies, demanding to have their cake, so that they can eat it, too. Waaaaaaaaaaah! I want free health care! Give it to me! Waaaaaah! Waaaaaaaah!!! I want a free college education! Waaaaaah! Waaaaaah! Waaaaaaah!!! After you pay for my education, I want $15 an hour for working on campus!
7:02. The lights are on, but no one is home. This girl talks, but her mouth is not connected to any sort of logical mental process. She obviously just wants what she wants - now! waaaaah! waaaaah! - and hasn't done any calculations or research into the feasibility of her project. She just sees the top one percent as an endless herd of human cattle, enough to keep her fat and fed.
The fact that she doesn't know the numbers for her own campaign show how ill-prepared she is not only for this interview, but for life itself.
And while I did laugh at the opening parts of the video, all I see now is a grim reminder of why I'm leaving the USA behind.
@TTG SS It used to make me angry, too. It made me mad until I decided to leave the U.S. The entitled brats can have this country. They can have its forever increasing debt, its obese population full of unhealthy people who want me to pay for their health care. They can have America.
I was discussing this with my dad last week about tax rates of bringing in upwards of $250k - $1M+/year in earned income, I looked up the rates in various states I'd like to live (hovering around 40%) and then looked up Cali, it was about 50%. I couldn't believe my eyes. What's the incentive to work hard, create something of value, and earn 6, 7, 8 figures to give away half of it?! There isn't! Just as Neil said in that interview in regards to 90%.
This girl is a complete embarrassment to our generation, those that work hard day in & day out, and to those of us who have read MJ's book and trade 7-0 to eventually trade 0-7.
I couldn't believe my ears when she mentioned $15/hr for on-campus jobs! Most of the jobs on campus are more time-wasting than the seasonal govt jobs you get at your local municipality! I remember in 09-10 when I was at UND I worked for their landscaping dept., I was so eager to learn everything about the industry I worked as hard as I did there for about (pay was around $8-9/hr) as I did for the landscape contracting companies I had worked for prior.
As for the trophies for 27th place in little league, etc. I'm a huge fan of Andy Frisella & his podcast The MFCEO Project. He uses the analogy when he was thanking the listeners for all the feedback they received thus far and that they're busting a$$ to try to get society away from the political correctness, entitlement, trophies for last place bullshit, etc. of trying to slowly steer a Viking ship which each rower to turn the ship around. Unfortunately his message hasn't reached the girl in this interview.
Where are you headed? Lol! I love the US and everything it has to offer, but if I'm going to get taxed at Bernie Sander's ultra high rate if he gets elected, I'm out.
