While this is not my fastlane plan, I am slowly accomplishing a goal that I have had set for a long time, I just went about it the wrong way until about 2 months ago.
I always played video games and made films from them, I was not addicted to video games, but I didn't play them like normal people. Anytime the game was on, the capture card was recording, and once the xbox shut off, the editing software went on, and I kid you not - it has always been this way.
I went out of my way to do stuff that I liked, but maybe a bit too much. What I mean is that when I uploaded a video, it contained amazing content with awesome knowledge. People really like listening to me, the thing is, I felt the time I was putting into this, and the views I were getting were certainly not evening out. I think a lot of us feel that way too. You make something you love but when you realize there is limiting recognition, you slowly start to back down and say "What's the point?". That is what happened to me, until I said to myself "Well, I love messing with people on a playful note, why not just make some trolling videos?". I made about 3 a week not thinking much of it, except "I cannot stop laughing when editing these and watching them, I hope others feel the same".
Call it luck, or whatever, but with the right keywords I end up on the front page of youtube for "Halo 4: TROLLING".
My channel was stuck at 954 subs for a LONG time, and just today I broke 1,000!
Maybe this is a downer to some people because you could say "Dude, you basically just told me that you gave up doing what you liked in order to target the mainstream people more".
Partially true, but you are either one of 2 things.
An artist or an entertainer, however, YOU CAN BE BOTH! It almost runs along side of saying "You can do what you love for a career if you're smart enough".
My problem was that just because I liked it, a long with a small amount of people, I thought it would expand. Let's be realistic, the amount of people who want laugh and not have to think a lot, far outweighs the number of people who want to sit through a 10 minute video to learn something.
Honestly, up until this point my goals have not been set too high. Maybe they still aren't now and maybe I should be pushing them even higher.
Point is, I stuck with something, found the right formula and things are really, REALLY looking up.
I hope everyone had a great holiday as well.
