Hi guys my first post
I've read "The Fastlane" two years ago, and it changed my view on life and how to approach money. What annoys me is that we supposedly spend almost 20 years in some sort of academic institution only to have nothing to show for it. To top it off, we work endlessly, believing we’ve earned the benefits we deserve from the sacrifices we made.
My mother gave an example of my aunt, who was the first to get a higher education in our family. While she is so independent, she barely has time to look after her child after a full day's work or visit her own mother because she’s forced to work on weekends. My mom looked at me proudly while saying that, and I wonder what was going through her head.
Either way, I’m here living and breathing and sadly at collage now, i wrote a 16-page essay to my father on why I shouldn’t go to university after i finished school before I travelled with my mother, eagerly waiting to see his response, only to be met with indifference.
I struggle to relate to people who optimistically or fearfully give their time to academic institutions, even after it has clearly not worked out for them after more than 12 years in school. I want to be a better person and a provider so I can be with my family and spend time on things that matter to me. I want to ease the burden on the people around me, but it's not going to happen if I can’t even take care of myself if left on my own.
I just want to spend time with the people I love without constantly allowing my time to be consumed by something that doesn’t truly benefit me or those I care about. To sum it up, our time is valuable, and I don’t want to look back and see that I’ve spent what’s left of it on an entity that has never known my name. And even if it did, what good would it do once I'm under the dirt?
Well now we are done with the sob story, i am at the part of planning a start up with a person i just met 2 months ago after i entered uni yayyy
