Pretty sure I've browsed every rental in the area now o_O.

If anyone knows of any good renters with houses in the Scottsdale/Mesa/Tempe area that allow German Shepherds, let me know.

Stay away from Mesa. Trust me.

IF one were to move to Scottsdale, where would one want to look? Good schools, nice (but not crazy opulent) homes, etc?

Check out the Arcadia and Biltmore areas of Phoenix too. They're my favorite part of the whole valley, but it really depends on your taste.

So I will be traveling for the next 3 months, but I am coming BACK to Scottsdale after my travels (mid to late summer).

Many of you at the Fastlane Summit expressed interest in moving to Scottsdale. I've been here for almost a year it has been nothing but life changing.

So it's time to put your money where your mouth is and decide if you'll do it.

Most of you know when three of us moved to Scottsdale - what happened and all of our lives were forever changed for the better.

If I never moved I'd probably still be in California working out of my parents garage and never outsourcing manufacturing...etc. etc.

Right now we're living in a apartment in the middle of told town - I LOVE this location. Ideally, there could be 4-10 of us living in the same complex in 2-5 Apartments.

This is a work hard, play hard sort of thing. But what you do on your own time is your business. :)

If you're in, reply to this thread or PM me directly and we'll make it happen.

@SeanKelly @FastLanePursuer @AndrewNC @TheTruth @MikeC @Castaway @K.Y. @Moneymadness

This sounds awesome.

I've already set things in motion to be living in Scottsdale by the fall. If you're still doing this (or know of anybody who is), let me know.

So the 3 month trip around the world turned into a year, which has turned me into an ex-pat traveling the globe, and I love it.

Scottsale will always have a warm place in my heart, and you never know I may end up back there to be around my friends, but for now I am happy to be on this journey.

So much opportunity exists when you expand your reach world wide (even if it's traveling for only a month or two at a time), and your perspective and view of the world shifts immensely.

I highly recommend giving it a try.

I ran 6.5 miles yesterday and dug holes out in the sun. Yes it was hot. You get used to it. :)

Last time I went to Houston when it was 95 degrees, I thought I was going to die. It is all about the humidity.

My wife is currently playing in a four day golf tournament in Scottsdale. She did not say one word about the heat. She's pretty tough though.

It does kind of feel like that. :)

The saying is there for a reason though.

Same reason Minnesotans say it is brisk out when it is 20 below Fahrenheit

My friend in PHX sent me a pic and its around 119F. I'm in LA and it was 102F at 10AM today.

I noticed that a lot of the office workers are using delivery apps more during this weather because they don't wanna brave the weather.

Except that "I" can still do things in the heat without anything more than a hat and extra water...

Funny that this thread has been brought up again because I'm going to be in the Phx/Scottsdale area this Saturday the 25th and I'll be leaving the 2nd.

Gonna check out the area, apartments, work, etc. Finally about to make a big move.

Guess I picked the perfect time to get cooked also.

;)

The weather here still makes me happy every day that I moved my family here. Summer or winter - we LOVE it.

100+ F dry will always beat 85+ F humid.
Besides, above 105 or so you really don't feel a difference anyway between 110, 120 or anything between. It's all just "hot" and gives the media something to cry 'the sky is falling' over, because 120 is a sensational number. Does the warm gusts feel like being inside a dryer? Sure :) But I'd rather sit inside that dryer than have all my body fluids boiled out of me by a steamer, lol...

Because it's not and will never be motherfuckin' muggy humid yucky, drench your clothes in sweat, hot. :) And that's just yet another reason to love Arizona.

Number of Snakes
Arizona- First Google result "Year-round warm temperatures and an incredibly diverse landscape make Arizona a reptile paradise. Home to over 50 species of native snakes, and many more varieties of lizards and desert-loving amphibians, it isn't difficult to find them even in your own backyard" Lovely, just lovely.
New Zealand- no snakes.

I'm thinking the moving costs in 50 gallon drums of sunscreen and full body armor to fight off the marauding snakes would make such a move unviable.
This is funny. I grew up in San Diego. While I was young, there were more reptiles per capita there than anywhere else in the US. My brothers and I built what we called a "moat" in our yard that was basically an old swimming pool with rocks and other crap in it. We had over 100 lizards and snakes in there at one point. Everyday we would gather bugs in containers and dump them in. The feeding frenzy was a sight to behold.

We used to walk through the hills with sticks prodding everything and turning stuff over until we would find a rattler. We were not allowed to take them home but would play with them for a while. We would take their rattles if they happened to die during rough play.

Sigh.... those were the days...

If I see them on the trail now, I either walk around or nudge them out of the way. They cannot strike very far and they sure as hell don't want to be around us.

Man tell me about it! I'm living in Houston right now and its very HOT and HUMID :banghead:. Also the apartment that I'm living in, A/C hasn't worked for a couple of days (gonna get fixed tomorrow), so it has been very unproductive for the past couple of days in the afternoon and noon times :(, the evenings I get a lot of stuff done though :D. It feels the same inside as it does outside.

It's been in the high 90's for a couple of weeks now. So to get used to the heat I just take an hour walk everyday in the hottest time. Body seems to be able to handle the heat much better now, couldn't before, felt lightheaded after the walks. Cognitive function is a whole other story all together though :p.

It's not a big deal compared to 95 and humidity. Ten minutes in that crap and you have to change your drenched clothes.

Throw in never suffering thru 4 feet of snow and zero degrees, and this is a picnic with frozen margarita.

I've been out here for a year now after moving from Michigan. I've gotten used to the heat. Just feels like a heat lamp is next to you. it's not humid although it feels like your skin is cooking a little.

Moved to Scottsdale for the first 6 months. Nice if you like going out and being walking distance from stuff.

Now I live in Arcadia. 10-15 min away so stuff isn't walking distance really anymore. Ubers add up.

Just want to reiterate that there is no formal fastlane club out here. I was told that when I first decided to move as well. so don't expect a weekly meet up or anything.

however you can meet other fastlaners if you provide value and put in the effort.

Yeah I wasnt trying to imply that I wanted to join the "Fastlane Club" or whatever when I come out next week, more or less just thought I'd add my plans.

I'm actually really excited. Hopefully I end up liking it.

Pittsburgh region to Maricopa County?

I feel like that's a slam dunk lol

How do you like it there?

I lived in Scottsdale and Arcadia. Both are very nice. Those are 2 of only 3 areas that I would buy investment properties in. The other area is the Biltmore. I still own property there. You are in a very central location with everything nearby. Are you close to the canal? If so, ride a bike to town.

Location is everything there. What is your apartment budget? What type of work are you looking for? I can probably give you location advice.

Right now I'm doing social work but I've done minor sales before so I wanna do sales for sure this time. And my budget I'm thinking is gonna be around $900-1000 for a 1br/studio. Ideally less.

Sent you a pm. Unless you want to move way south, I would recommend the center of the city. But picking the pockets to be in are critical. You should be able to find a decent place for less than your budget.

I have eaten there. That is actually a decent area as well. It is a little north and has a bit of a commute to the action.

I would eat at Wally's over Salty Sow. Wally's is a pub but serves up great food. Camelback and 44th st.
