I could care less for celebrities or any of their BS.
But today I decided to read Unscripted again for the third time (I'm so glad I did, it definitely gave me the oil change I've been needing) and it got me thinking about a few things so I started doing some research.
I came across something that stuck out to me and I'm rather curious. It hasn't really been making much sense to me so I wanted to bring it to the forum and hopefully get some useful insight.
Personally I don't like the Kardashians at all. But I respect what they've been able to build. I'm inclined to believe that they are very smart business people (or managed by people who are)
So I was shocked to discover that Snapchat stocks dropped like 7% after Kylie Jenner tweeted a disapproving message about the new update. Shortly after these events happened, she released another tweet saying she still loves Snapchat.
I can't prove that the stock dropping and her comment are directly correlated, but we can all agree that she holds substantial social media influence.
I'm not at all surprised to see that most people are sheep and respond so much to what she says.
Whats surprising to me is that she put that message out knowing the impact it would have.
The Kardashians get an incredible amount of media coverage on Snapchat, and I mean a f*** ton. At one point it wouldn't have been surprising at all to see 90% of the news articles talking about them. It got so bad I stopped looking at the news section. The Kardashians also use Snapchat as a sales funnel to sell products to their sheep. They make a considerable amount of money from Snapchat I'm sure.
So why would Kylie Jenner launch (from my perspective) an attack on a big platform that generates so much money for her? I don't see any business sense there.
To me it seems like something must have gone on behind the scenes. I'm not inclined to believe Kylie Jenner just randomly tweets out whatever she feels like at the time. I'm sure the process is heavily scrutinized before anything is put out. It is a business after all.
I got curious so I decided to look at the Snapchat news coverage today and I found that the kardashians are not getting anywhere near as much coverage as they did in the past. They still get a good amount of coverage tho.
I'm not sure if this occurred because of the update, or if it's a retaliation from Snapchat. It's also quite possible that it happened for many other unrelated reasons.
I only have a few ideas that make any sense.
I thought this topic might make for an interesting and potentially enlightening discussion. I'd love to get some opinions on this from you guys. Thanks!

I only have a few ideas that make any sense.
- Some kind of falling out occurred so she retaliated
- She has some other business interest that will profit from a Snapchat decline
- She did it to show Snapchat how much influence she has over the app for leveraging purposes
- The new update might have caused her to receive less media coverage (because of how the update had affected the way the news stories are placed) so she tweeted this out as a way to force Snapchat to update this portion of the app again so that she doesn't receive less coverage. This theory would make a lot of sense. Especially considering how immediately after her comment Snapchat released a statement saying they are redesigning the update and plan to fix the app soon.
I thought this topic might make for an interesting and potentially enlightening discussion. I'd love to get some opinions on this from you guys. Thanks!
