@AceVentures I find all these things fascinating and I know for a fact that there is a gigantic market for these kinds of services - at least 90% of the population suffers from postural issues to some degree, many of which are blindly unaware of their problem.
Thank you for patiently reading, keeping up with the thread and contributing your thoughtful feedback.
Knowing how the human mind works, I can tell you that most of these people will happily live their lives for decades without addressing or even acknowledging the issue - up until the very day in which the pain begins.
However, what I'm trying to get at here, is that you will eventually have to take all of this intricate knowledge and complex procedures, and package them into an easily digestible product that the average user can quickly understand and start using right away.
This does have a benefit - it makes it a highly specialized premium service, thus allowing you to price it at a premium, but it alienates 90% of the potential target audience.
I think you guys are well intended with this advice. But I said from the onset of this thread that I will be selective with who I treat at the beginning. This isn't because I don't want to, or because I believe the 90% of people who can benefit from this don't deserve my attention. It's a matter of allocating my limited resources, and a part of a phased approach to the development of this thing.
It's hard for "most" and the "average" and the "90%" to readily understand and meaningfully transfer what I teach into their lives. They have the capacity of course, but today there's only me, and by virtue of my limited attention, I can't attend to everybody in a generalized way. Moreover, the average sort of person isn't best positioned to transform their lives. They can find relief in a short period of time, but they won't get to the level I intend for them. This is largely by virtue of their current environments.
For example the person who is a virgin at 30, still lives at home and doesn't have a good grasp of the English language is severely affected. I can't and won't go after this sort of person. He's got to pull himself up several levels before I can attend to him. The level of angst and disability he endures is so severe that he won't show up for an hour every day for two years. He can't appreciate the small differences I bring to his attention. His scope of awareness is limited. His angst is so habituated that he can't even fathom that what I teach will help him. This sort of person is still at the beginning of the self-development pipeline. He's better off watching Tony Robbins videos, going to the gym and finding a job.
There has to be a simpler way to explain it. I already gave an example - have a rough childhood, struggle to interact with others, get bullied, develop anxiety, which then manifests into physical symptoms such as slouched posture, twisted neck, insecure walking pattern, etc. This may not be entirely relevant to what Ace does, but is a simple example of how mental/emotional can affect the physical. An example of case-and-effect.
This is entirely relevant to what I do. It's simpler for you to understand it from this standpoint because that's your personal story. The higher level principle which underpins the trouble you describe is compulsive behavior - something I've written about in this thread and talk about on X ad nauseum.
I get it, your reputation is at stake, but is there really no way you can put something out there for real people to engage with now?
There is. I have thousands of hours of experience with the practice I teach. It's what I can do best. I can do it better than anything I've ever written. I can reliably reproduce a feeling of elegant and comfortable posture in most people within a one hour practice.
I'm just not convinced that's the ideal way for me to position myself based on what I want to achieve. Why?
The biggest challenge of this business is not finding the perfect miracle cure for postural issues, but rather, finding the perfect way to make people adhere long-term to the program.
Heavy is on to why.
I can make you feel "ooh ahh, wow that feels great, omg I can't believe I never knew that wow that feels incredible" in most people. Look here's perhaps a grandiose claim but I'm confident in it: find a quiet room to be alone in, find a comfortable mat to lie on, and leave me on speaker phone, and I will get you to feel something about yourself you've never felt before. I can get you to feel a level of comfort you may not have felt for years or decades.
What I can't yet do reliably is to get someone to show up the next day, the next day, and so on for 1-2 years until we can dissociate the years of contradictory, compulsive attitudes we've learned to involuntarily reenact in our behavior. If we don't turn what I teach into a habit, then it won't take long for the person to return to the previous behavior which sustained their trouble.
This is a large part of why my personal trainer client failed. Every lesson made her feel incredible. But we practiced once a week, and then after our practice she would return to being a silly a$$. She would exercise every day, doing deadlifts and squats and all the other shit she wasn't coordinated enough to do well. So she would get sore as a dog, and then do a bunch of stretching to do something about her soreness, which kept tearing the tissues which were beyond her range of intentional control. So she couldn't reliably get better. She kept inducing self-harm. She was in a loop. And I couldn't get her out that loop. Until she injured herself and gave up. She probably feels like a failure.
And this is why I say it's imperative that this work is performed with the person who is best suited to succeed.
For the right person, what I teach is priceless. I know so because it's priceless for me. I'd give every last dollar I've ever earned in exchange for this skill of comfortable adjustment that I've nurtured over the past few years.
Now if that's truly what I believe, then why chase people with some online course? If what I claim is true, then there are so many other creative ways to spin this ability I've developed. Why not find a high-level athlete, or someone for who something as small as a 5% difference is worth millions, and just treat them instead? Build my skill and brand to attract the likes of Bryan Johnson? That sort of person could pay me more than all the other average customers combined, and would be far less of a headache to treat.
You see what I'm saying? That's why I gave up on this idea of creating a productized service this year. I'm not opposed to it, especially at a later stage of development. I just think I can get more creative with it.
But we'll see. Maybe nobody is impressed enough with the story I develop. Maybe nobody cares. Maybe all I can attract is people who can only afford to pay 10 bucks a month for some meditation app. If that's the case, then I'll pivot to less reasonable expectations.
For now, I can afford to dream big.
