I already sound like a broken record, but outside of sales and logistical headaches, most of business seems to be a question of if you will just try to do something or not.
Like in this episode of how I built this, with the founder of tom's of main... Tom!

What really floored me is he just "knew" he wanted to do something in the space after having an FTE at his dayjob as a salesman and remembering his wife was complaining about additives and chemicals in personal hygeine stuff... so he went and begged his friends for a measly 5,000$ (41,000$ today) and just wrote letters and found a chemist to make formulations which he took to co-manufacturers.
This may sound simple to you, but let me remind you of something real quick:

It sold for about 100 million back in 2006 (157,000,000$ in today's funny money).
Peep the employee data, the core of the business is only about 107 employees- mainly logistics and admin, most of what the company does for the nitty-gritty in terms of production is simply sent to co-manufacturers.
This one really bites me because it's a reflection of something I've been chasing in the food space. I actually did make and sell my own "natural deodorant" back in 2018 then saw native blow up and gave up before talking to any co-manufacturers. Even right now I'm procrastinating on pulling the trigger with any food chemists because of a bunch of dumb mental BS and not wanting to burn money- looking at the downsides but not the upside.
Meanwhile Tom back in the 70s, freshly unemployed, begged for his friends to take out a second mortgage on their house to give him seed money to start a natural hygiene brand back when even looking sorta similar to a communist would get you beat to a pulp.
Yeowza.
