Have you ever heard of Skillpages? It's a website where you list what you are good at.
Then others can hire you, based on recommendations. It's kind of like a yellow pages for people looking for people, but with more reviews then a phone number.
I first heard about skillpages when I got a email, that a client had invited me, on my cell. Now I'm very careful about opening emails, but in the moment I signed up.
Then my firewall kicked in. Skillpages wanted to pull my ''Phone contacts'' ''Email contacts'' and there was a facebook connection that would have done the same had I used facebook.
Alerted, I jumped ship and kept a Eye on skillpages. It turned out, my client had NOT sent me the email. It had been automatically sent to all his contacts-- most likely from someone who did had the same thing happen.
What do you think of their marketing tactics? In their case, it worked. I guess the service made people forgive them, and I actually have made two more clients thanks to them.
