I am about to send my first product to Amazon. My question is, how do you determine how many to stock on FBA?

I have no idea how many I might sell in a month. It is an office product with a twist that applies to my specific niche. It is my own branded product.

I can easily send more as they sell, so I am thinking I will send 15 and see how it goes. Does that sound right?

Thanks for all advice.

Sounds fine. I send 10 at a time.

10 to 15 sounds good. Get a gauge on how they sell than lower or raise the quantity based on that. Also paying attention to the unit costs per shipment. You want to get that as low as possible. For example, 32 is the best FBA book quantity for me to send where each book (in the one shipment) only costs 43 cents to ship. If I ship 24 that unit cost goes up to 60 cents.

Depends.

Is this your only product in the shipment?
Have you already sold this product elsewhere?
How fast are they selling?

You can always order Amazon to send product back.
As long as your product doesn't sit on the shelf for longer than a year storage cost in FBA are negligible.

I'd bump it up to 25 only because for your first shipment there may be an advantage to shipping to multiple fulfilment locations. It's debatable whether physical inventory location and the searching customers's physical location impacts amazon SERPs, but my personal experience is that if you're selling a brand you don't personally own and others are selling the same brand/product via FBA it makes a big difference.
