Many already said it, but just wanted to chip in too on one thing that has been mentioned. Ask yourself what kind of support are you expecting from your spouse. My to-be-husband in some ways is extremely supportive and patient, BUT I did have to adjust my expectations. He won't jump at the opportunity to read my books, blurbs, etc. He'll take a look at the covers, but getting feedback from him is like bleeding stones. He'll read the books if I ask (err, nag, to be more precise), but pays more attention to my grammar than to the content. And funny enough the books I feel most passionate about he likes the least.
Yet, he let's me know he believes in what I'm doing. He does offer support when I'm feeling down and doesn't mind that I've taken quite a pay cut to do this. He's not the fastlaner type - he likes his steady job. It did take some mental adjustment on my side though - it used to bother me that he was not interested in my fiction or that his eyes would glaze over at my blabbing about the latest publishing trends and tricks. Like someone said earlier - decide what kind of support you want, critiques and talking shop you can get elsewhere. Overall support for your direction in life, now that is something you might need to have a heart to heart with him.
