I use it to reinforce in my mind the fact that I made a good decision to use the Ignore feature. Discussions like these help me not to second-guess myself and get tempted to give an ignored user another chance. Nope! I see nothing has changed.I wish the ignore function included people replying to someone on my ignore list.
It's only with certain people, and they are a vast minority. (I've only ever ignored 6-7 people since I joined.) Use the ignore feature and the forum will suddenly be such a nicer place. Less stress, less drama, just people who provide value. All I want to gain is better knowledge in business through processes, systems, strategies, mindset, etc. But instead, it often turns into an endless ego battle.
A while back, there was a stupid argument between a certain person on this forum and a couple of long-time users here. It caused a bunch of hurt feelings, except by the user who was feeding into the argument and crowing about how much fun he was having.
The argument died down and things were restored to normal, except there was a long-standing forum member who used to provide incredible, high-value posts, and they got upset and left the forum, never to return.
Then there was a second stupid argument with the same central antagonist and a different legendary member of this forum. I saw that the pattern was the same and lost respect for the argumentative user. I put them on ignore at that point.
Since then, there have been MULTIPLE other lengthy arguments (all instigated by the same user) where different forum users get sucked in and a bunch of time gets wasted. There's a bunch of drama and hurt feelings. This one user seemingly LOVES it.
It's not worth having your forum experience ruined over one user who loves to stir the pot.
It does make me curious - I bet MJ can see stats on the back end of the forum to see which user has been ignored by the most people. I wonder who here has the ignominious award for the "most-ignored" member. (No need to say; I'm not asking to know. It might just be an interesting detail to the mods.)
