What do you think about paying like 17-20% of the ticket instead of hourly? So they're paid based on how much revenue they brought in instead of how many hours they worked

I experimented with straight commission years ago, but too many potential employees saw it as a red flag. They wanted the certainty of an hourly wage. The average American just wants to make enough money to afford housing, food, and some basic entertainment. They're not psychos like us.

I personally wouldn't take on any role that was 100% commission unless they showed me proof of the following:

• a solid list of existing clients
• a good territory for prospecting
• a good marketing system and reviews

And even then if they were able to provide all of the above, I'd still be weary and wonder if the company was on the edge of financial ruin.
